What Is the Truth of Selling?

Looking at today's sales sector, it is full of stories like "selling the refrigerator to the Arctic" or "selling the comb to the monks", which are classic idols in the marketing sector. But is this a good way to sell things? What is the truth of selling?

What is the truth of selling?
This is an interesting and true story, which might tell you what the truth of selling. A printer manufacturing company was recruiting outstanding salesman in New York. The company boss finally chose three candidates to examine and to find the best. Among three competitors, one is a teenage girl Anne who comes from Philadelphia.

The boss gave them a task and told them to try their best to show their selling ability within one day. How to show their ability perfectly? After they went out of the company, these salesman began to discuss it. One person said: "sell the products to the people who don't need it! This could show our ability best, so I decided to look for a farmer and sell the printer to him."

"Sounds great! I would find a fishermen and sell my printer to him" the other candidate said with joy.

Before they set off, they asked Anne to go with them. Anne thought for a minute and said" I think it was difficult. I would rather to do some easy things. " After that, Anne went towards to another position.

One day later, the boss met them again in the office, and asked them what they had done to show their ability. "I spent one day and finally sold the printer to a farmer" One candidate said proudly and added " You should know, the farmer doesn't need the printer at all, but I let him buy one."

The boss nodded and said nothing." I spent two hours running to the riverside of the countryside, and then spent one hour to find the fisherman. Finally, I had spent four hours and persuaded him to buy a printer when the sun was went down."

The boss still nodded, and asked Anne:" who you sold the products to? A cooking women? A women who are walking with dog?" "No, I sold the products to three electric businessman". Anne answered and handed the files to the boss - three orders of 600 printers.

The boss looked at the orders out of joy and then he hired Anne. At that time, two other candidates were not convinced and asked why. " I thought you misunderstand the meaning of ability. Ability means using the shortest time to finish the easiest thing instead of using time to finish an inconceivable thing. Who made greater contributions to the company, people who sold 600 printers to the electric businessman, or people who sold a printer to a farmer or fisherman?

The boss said seriously," Making farmer or fisherman buy printer, I do doubt that you were exaggerating the functions of the printer and it is the forbidden of a salesman."

Anne always insist one principle: " Collecting our all energy to do the easiest things and you will be successful ". Later she created the record of 200 ten thousand annual sales. In 2001, Anne was named one of the world's greatest salesman in the 20th century by United States Fortune magazine.

Using shortest time to do the easiest thing. Making selling simple should become the truth of selling.

Three ways to gain more customer in trade show

As we all know, trade shows are important for companies due to it can be a great boost to your business in recent years. Not only it can expose your company and products to many people, but it also helps you to get the most useful information and trends that are happening in your current industry.



Because of these good functions, most exhibitors choose trade shows for their business development and which leads to the high expense of exhibition, so it is very important for exhibitor to gain more customers in trade shows. Offering small gifts

It is a common phenomenon that the potential visitor will not buy the product at the first sight in the trade show, but maybe they will ask some information about your company and products. So it is important for you to give a small gift which including your contact information and can be used for a long period. Why? We all know that human memory is forgetful and need something to remind indirectly. So when they have some need in the future, they may not remember the name of your company, but when they see the small gift, they will remember you and contact with you by the information on the gift.

Testing the products and services

There is no doubt that some brochures about products and company can tell what your company offers and how good your company is. But the pictures always difficult to convince people. So it's better to let them experience your products and services in person. You can bring a few of your most popular products so you can let visitors try them and test them. If the result of the testing is good, it is very likely that your company will gain more customers.

Keeping smile and enthusiasm

Smile and enthusiasm can give people a good impression and feeling which is liked by every stranger. So if you attend an exhibition, please bring a few of staff members who are friendly and enjoy the conversation with strangers. Surely, it is important for your staff to have a good physique due to some staff need standing all the day when the trade show is crowded. You also need to train your staff members understand the products and services that you want to sell fully and to ensure that your company get everything perfect.

Sales----the great and wise career

                    -----Today I understand sales truly 

In my heart, sales has always been the most low in the workplace which has no dignity and ignored by the society. I believe that everyone is familiar to this sentence "if you really can't find a job, make sales", So there is no doubt that the sales has always been seen as a kind choice of desperate life.



However, As a non-sales personnel, I do really know the sale insight after two days of sales training. At this moment, I admire these people who worked as a salesman. Actually, salesman is not the people who without dignity,what is more, it's not easy to be a good salesman. Why? because the salesman is a great and wise people who is worthy of our learning, both for the sales staff and non-sales staff.

Great

There is a woman who is 40 years old, and as a sales staff in the hotel, she mainly sell hotel discount card. Among many sellers, she has the highest performance. Why? Due to people found that this woman is too great for her patience and insists through the research. In addition, her smile is worth learning too.

For this women, sale each discount card is hard to come. When seeing the people who sitting at the airport and waiting for the plane, she just squat down in front of he, giving the discount card to he and let him have a look, then introduces the discount card. When someone were angry, they would throw the discount card to the ground, but she was still pick it up and smiling to them, asking why they not buy and say the good function of it. In the end, she sold them due to her behavior was touched by customer.

Someone curious about her behavior and asked why she can also smile to the customer when suffering so much injustice? She replied that compared with injustice, her son get a good life and learning is the most important.
It reminds me of another sentence "Dignity? There is no dignity if you have no success. If you are successful, all the dignity you will have"


Wisdom 

Long time ago, there was a sales team who need develop new markets in monk temple? As we all known, the monk is not using a comb, how to sell it? It made a dilemma. However, a few people of sales team managed to sell the comb, one sold 1 and one sold 24. Shockingly, there is a person who sold thousands.

It turns out that the people who sold one due to there is a young comb who has boils on his head and need it to tickler. The people who sold 24 due to there is 24 statue of Buddha, when pilgrims who come here to fell down, they can use comb to comb their hair and make themselves more religious.

As for the last salesman, why he can sell thousands of the combs? Because he told the abbot that if he want to let every pious people keep a pious heart in every time and everywhere, he can make comb as a gift to each pilgrims. When they see a comb, just then remember giving like a Buddha.

Salesman is so smart, do you agree? In fact, the wisdom of selling is far more than these? Wisdom is not only come from creating demand, but also from the language of humor. There is a classic example, When you went out for expanding customer, you saw a boss and he shouted at you "who let you enter? I don't know you" what would you do? Maybe you would went out with pity.  But there is a salesman who smiled, closed the door, and went out. Then he came in and smiled too: "hello, you know me now." This is wisdom.

There are floors where posted a note "There is no visit if you have no agreement" , when saw the note, a lot of people were afraid to enter in, but there was a seller who came in and said with confident "I'm here to talk with your boss on big business, please give him a notice" "You have no agreement" "Today is agreement, tomorrow's visit" how clever and humor enough. What is a 10 inch golden tongue? Here it is.
